This needlepoint carpet pattern is an adaptation of an antique Turkish carpet from Konya, 18th c.

The field motif of the rug is composed of Elibelinde, hands on hips, motifs symbolizing female fertility, arranged in diagonals.

The border pattern is made up of Kocboynuzu, ram's horn, motifs standing for male fertility.

Protecting fertility against the evil eye and malice are the amulet and eye motifs.
